We live in the day and age of self indulgence. Many go the entirety of their lives without sacrificing a bit of their own comfort for the sake of another. Even more will go without once depending on their own hands and skills to provide for their families. We greet neighbors with simple smiles and nods but never learn who they truly are. There once was a time so long ago when humanity was dependent upon its brethren. Members of a community came together and fought side by side with their fellow villagers. In the world of knights and chivalry a family consisted of more than the people in the home, it was an entire town of people that depended and thrived on each other’s support. Each person in the town was responsible for some piece of the puzzle and no one group could function solely on their own. The butcher and the blacksmith would meet in the mead hall discussing their wives and children and the farmer would join them along with his cousin, the carpenter. Each man had his title and a strong loving wife to lean on in times of war. Wives would join together to help with the raising of children and mending of clothes while gossiping about the village across the river. It was called a village but it was a family. I have gone my whole life without having that sense of community or at least until I found Realm of Empires.
It started off as a simple desire to not be bored while playing on Facebook but now it is a passion that cannot be denied or ignored. I have always had a soft spot for the medieval times but Realm of Empires has given me a chance to enter a virtual version of my favorite age. It begins with an opportunity to build up your own personal village. A place where you can build up your silver mine and climb your way up the ranks through the cultivation of money or you can recruit as many knights as your heart desires and pillage the lands attacking and taking over village after village. Of course you can stay solo, spending your time building up your village and becoming the highest power in the land as you progress from a mere serf to a powerful Great Emperor. However, there is another option, joining a clan. If you prefer a world dependent solely on your own well than a clan is not for you but if you truly wish to experience the old world feeling of community than joining a clan gives you just that. Instead of traveling millions of miles to meet new people you get the opportunity to join with thousands of people from all over the world from the comfort of your desk chair. Instead of spending my life talking to only those in my local community, I have helped a man from England in times of war, I have discussed my favorite pastimes with a woman in New York, I have hailed a King and discussed art with an Emperor.
If you want the chance to become a knight and build a mighty dynasty of your own than join me! It is an opportunity to escape the drivel of ordinary everyday life and explore a whole new world. I’m Annabethia … find me on Realm 3 at http://www.realmofempires.com/ and experience a realm within our realm!
